Ludwig Beilschmidt
HEY, THIS HERE IS RUKO AND I'M ANCIENT-TASTIC YEARS OLD. I'VE BEEN AT THIS FOR AT LEAST SIX YEARS SO DAMN RIGHT I CAN PLAY THIS. I FOUND ENDELIGE FROM THEATRUM MUNDI AND PLEASURE TO BE HERE TO KICK ASS
LUDWIG is a name with Germanic origins, and means "famous warrior".
AGE 16
GENDER Male
ORIENTATION Bi-curious
FACTION Kun or Xipil. Ludwig is grounded, realistic, and studious, but he's passionate (if not openly) about what he cares about, brave, and protective of his friends.
STRENGTHS
+ ORGANIZED
Everything about Ludwig is tidy: his appearance, his schoolwork, his room, his lifestyle, and so on. He always knows where everything is, and how everything should work, and because of this, he is very efficient.
+ LEADER
Ludwig likes to take charge of things. While he usually insists that everyone contributes regardless, he's also good at seeing people's strengths, and at putting those abilities to use. Although he occasionally overestimates people, he's usually fine with giving them a second chance, and will try to bear the brunt of the responsibility should something bad happen.
+ SMART
Ludwig is intelligent. He is well-read, and additionally a dedicated student, and there's rarely an idea or piece of knowledge that goes past his understanding. He's also curious, and seeks out new information readily, and can be quite clever, sometimes thinking up multiple strategies for a single goal.
+ KIND
Those who know him only casually would certainly cry 'false' at this, but it's the truth: underneath the stern (and sometimes shouting) exterior, Ludwig has a softer side. He's protective of his friends and of those people and animals weaker than he, and he seldom turns down requests for help unless he has a very good reason to.
+ DETERMINED
He likes a good challenge, and consequently, Ludwig has a very hard time just simply giving up. Even in the most hopeless cases, he'll pick himself up, straighten whatever mess happened out, and try again.
WEAKNESSES
- STRICT
He is absolutely rigid about rules and laws. While he runs his own life very sternly, the real problems start when he tries to enforce this idea onto other people. Of course, he has yet to learn that this might not be the best idea.
- AMBITIOUS
Ludwig isn't necessarily power-hungry, but he does feel some need to prove himself worthy. He will chase down rewards with absolutely no mercy, and while he won't overstep the boundaries of the rules he's set for himself, he can sometimes get what he wants with zealous work alone. Ludwig tends not to see the smaller, more vague aspects of life: the goals are the most important.
- STUBBORN
This is the other side of the double-edged sword of determination. While Ludwig adapts easily to changes in the world around him, he's pretty firmly set when it comes to his own opinions and the way he runs his life. Though he knows it's important to be open-minded, in some cases he just can't manage to put what's familiar to him aside.
- STOIC
He tends to keep his thoughts, emotions, and problems to himself, for various reasons. Regardless, this results in him coming across as at best, uninterested, and at worst, perpetually angry. This drives people away from him and prevents him from making many close friends.
-PESSIMIST
Ludwig insists he's just being realistic, but when it comes to problems, he tends to think of each and every possible way things could go wrong. While this does make him more prepared for when something bad does happen, it also makes him perpetually anxious, and rather quick-tempered.
LIKES
Animals (especially dogs), cooking things, German food - although wurst is probably his favorite, exercise and the outdoors, books, fixing things, music.
DISLIKES
Messes of any kind, cowards, gossip and the people who spread it, anything going to waste (especially time), insults, oversleeping, isolation.
FEARS
- He has a sometimes overwhelming fear of failure; he cannot accept that anything is beyond even a little of his control, so when something goes drastically wrong, he blames himself.
- Perhaps surprising for someone so rational, Ludwig also has a bad fear of nightmares.
FACE CLAIM
Germany, Bundesrepublik Deutschland
APPEARANCE
Ludwig is tall and fair (he sunburns rather easily), with a well-defined muscular build from the frequent exercise he does. He keeps his light blond hair cut short, and usually sweeps it back from his face in a hairstyle that makes him look a good deal older than he actually is. His bright sky-blue eyes are sharp, and often narrowed in scrutiny or observation. As for clothes, he's not entirely fashionable, and prefers simple colors and styles; however, he always dresses neatly.
PERSONALITY
Ludwig is a very no-nonsense kind of person, with a firm grounding in reality and a strong belief in the benefits of hard work and perseverance. While he has a sense of humor, it doesn't often show; usually, he comes off as quite serious, even dull, at first glance. Ludwig is, in fact, quite passionate about his beliefs, opinions, and feelings, but he also doesn't like to start conflict, and won't pick unnecessary arguments. He's honestly respectful of other people's opinions, and likes a good discussion. He's actually quite mature for his age, although there are still some things he's woefully naive about.
Because of the high standards he holds for himself, Ludwig usually has some level of stress. His favorite ways to deal with this is either enjoyment (usually by exercise, baking, or reading) or mindless tasks (namely cleaning, which contrary to popular belief, he doesn't honestly like - but it certainly has to be done). He tends to snap at people easily when he's under a lot of anxiety - or when he's surprised, nervous, embarrassed... in a lot of cases, actually. Ludwig isn't a spiteful person; he just has no better reaction under pressure.
While Ludwig doesn't have many friends, he holds the friends he has in very close regard, and is unfailingly loyal to them. And although he does lose his temper and might not be the most fun at times, he would easily put himself in trouble or the line of harm in order to help a friend. He values his family highly as well, no matter what occasional complaints he has about them. He has yet to be in a serious relationship, but if that happened, he'd deal with it as he deals with every new situation: read as many books about it as he can to try and learn how to best handle it.
Overall, the better part of Ludwig's personality is fairly hidden behind his serious and sometimes seemingly angry outer shell. He is just very hesitant - perhaps out of fear, perhaps just out of what he's used to - of letting it really show.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
